Lazy Elephant Creates a jumbo road by taking a Nap in the Middle of a Highway

This is the incredible moment when an elephant takes a nap across the street causing a traffic jam.

The stubborn beast in Nakhon Ratchasima, northern Thailand, delayed Nattawat Patsungsing for work by laying still for around 20 minutes.

In order to avoid causing the majestic Indian elephant to charge, Mr. Patsungsing, who was filming the animal from his automobile, had to halt from a distance and remain silent.

You can see the animal’s legs and ears fluttering as it sleepily moves in and out of a deep slumber.

Finally, the elephant raises its trunk and stands on its hind legs.

Once the elephant named Nga-Thong stands up, it keeps its eye on Mr. Patsungsing as he carefully reverses away.

Officials say that the elephant is often found lying on the concrete for warmth in the colder seasons.

According to the driver, wildlife officials in the region informed him that the elephant was called Nga-Thong, which translates to “golden ivory” in Thai.

“Nga-Thong doesn’t like to reveal himself when the road is busy with cars and loud buses, so most of the time it’s national park officers who see him. They said he’s very shy.”

“I was waiting about twenty minutes until he finally got up. I was late for my shift at work that day but I was happy to see him so close.”
