3 Foxes Refuse To Leave “Mr. Fox”, an Old Irish Man who Rescued All of Them
This is a story about a man and some foxes. It craps all over your cutesy story about how you had a hamster once.
Patsy Gibbons, from County Kilkenny, Ireland, takes care of three rescue foxes named Gráinne, Minnie, and Henry. The squad hang out all the time, visiting schools around the Ireland to teach kids about wildlife.
And they’re adorable.
Patsy told the Irish Examiner that he never planned to have pet foxes, ‘it just happened.’
‘I ended up looking after Gráinne since she was only seven-weeks-old,’ says Patsy.
‘My brother-in-law found her in a box looking for heat in a storeroom close to Columba’s Hospital in Thomastown.
‘[He] said we should try to do something as she was so thin. I took her to the local vet and so I just continued on caring for her and haven’t stopped.’
After Patsy took in Gráinne, Minnie was brought to him as a one-month-old pup, by a woman who’d heard that Patsy was an expert in fox care.
And after that, a man brought little Henry to him. Henry had been attacked by a dog in the nearby town of Graiguenamanagh, and the man knew Patsy was the man to help nurse the cub back to health.
Patsy can often be seen taking his foxes out for walks in the countryside and generally loving life.
As well as his three foxes, he also has 28 hens, 12 ducks, two dogs, and two cats. So Patsy’s not planning on taking any more animals in soon.
‘I now have people from all over the country and indeed the UK asking me for advice on looking after foxes,’ he says.
‘I’m no expert and I’m still learning from them day-by-day. I’m happy to advise as a lay person.’
