Giant Spider goes Viral with 9M viewers watching it Dragging Mouse to top of Refrigerator

In today’s dose of strange news, a video of an oversized Huntsman spider capturing a dead mouse in its clutches went viral. This is the stuff Arachnophobes’ nightmares are made of.

The video was shot by Jason Womal of Australia who later described the incident in detail in a Facebook post.

It was just another mundane Monday morning for Womal and he was ready to leave for work, when his neighbour asked if he wanted ‘to see some thing cool.’

The Queensland-native tradesman quickly said, ‘hell yeah’.

Little did he know that he would be greeted with the sight of a big Huntsman spider trying to drag a dead mouse to the top of the refrigerator to eat his meal in peace.

Womal quickly caught the mouse’s grisly end on camera, to the shock of more than 8.9 million people of the world who viewed the video.

People could not stop marvelling at the incredible strength of the eight-legged creature, which was scurrying up the fridge and holding on to the mouse at the same time.

“I would add this to my ‘reasons never to visit Australia’ list but there isn’t enough paper in all the world”, said Michael Moran on Twitter.” “We’d call wildlifex In to help!”, said another.

‘Creepy’, ‘horrifying’ and ‘impressive’ were among the common comments.

Womal’s video attracted over 54k comments, all expressing horror and shock at the spider’s strength.

Huntsman spiders, as the name suggests are known for their speed and mode of hunting. The eight-legged arachnid can grow up to the leg span as large as 16 cm – and the spider in the video is not the largest Hunstman lurking in Australian terrain.

After the video went viral, Womal posted again on Facebook to reassure the world that the spider is fine and has been adopted.

“We have named him Hermie, we have adopted him and he is now running his own extermination business out of our town Coppabella. Oh and he is now paying rent. Lol.,” Womal said in his tongue-in-cheek post.
